CannSample (“we”, “us”) helps cannabis brands give product samples to verified retail staff and keep a compliant record of every sample. • To confirm budtenders are of legal age to work with cannabis in their province.
  • To record each sample as a compliance record for the brand that gave it.
  • To show brands who received their samples and what they thought of them.
  • To send you notifications about new products, events, samples and your account.
  • To keep the service secure and prevent misuse.
  • To answer your questions and improve CannSample.

Who can see your information

Brands that sample you. When a brand's rep scans your QR code, the rep sees your name, email, job title, certification number, store and verification status. Once the sample is recorded, that brand keeps a record of your name, email, job title, certification number and store name and address, along with the sample details and any feedback you leave. Brands use this as their compliance record and can download it. Only brands you receive samples from get your details, and brands never see your date of birth.

Budtenders. If you work for a brand, budtenders see your brand's name, its products, and any contact email and phone you choose to share.

Other community members. Your Community posts and comments are visible to verified budtenders and approved brands, shown under your first name and last initial. Brands see how many people viewed their posts, but not who viewed them. Poll results show totals only; nobody sees how you voted.

Our team. CannSample staff can see account and sample information to verify users, provide support and keep the service running.

Service providers. We use Supabase to store data and run sign-in, Vercel to host the app, Resend to send account emails (like sign-up confirmations and password resets), and the push services built into your phone or browser (such as Apple, Google or Mozilla) to deliver notifications. They process data only to provide these services to us.

When the law requires it. We may share information if required by law or a regulator, or to protect people's safety.

We don't sell your personal information.

Where your information is stored

Our service providers may store and process information in Canada and the United States. Information stored outside Canada is subject to the laws of that country and may be accessible to its authorities.

How long we keep it

We keep your account information while your account is open. Sample records are compliance records, so they're kept for as long as brands need them for regulatory record-keeping, even after an account is closed. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous.

Your choices

  • You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or to correct it.
  • You can change your email and password under Account. To change details you were verified under, such as your name, certification number or store, contact us.
  • You can turn push notifications off at any time on the Notifications screen.
  • You can ask us to close your account. Sample records already given to brands stay with them as compliance records.

How we protect it

All traffic is encrypted, passwords are stored encrypted, and access rules ensure each person only sees the information their role needs. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will let you know if a breach affects you, as the law requires.

Age

CannSample is for people of legal age to work with cannabis in their province. It isn't meant for anyone younger.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll let you know in the app before it takes effect.
